A fun and must read for singles in this generation.. No, it has real stories but ALL the scientific data to back it up. Nugent got a bit carried away with the arts & crafts pieces. Events so sure and yet so seldom understood. I applaud this author for letting the reader discover these morsels along the way instead of just dumping a whole bunch of backstory into an introductory chapter. Nothing wrong with that; merely an observation.
The little touches that wove the stories together really succeeded in creating a cohesive whole and, once again, the frequent use of characters familiar from other books and stories lent the proceedings a bit of extra depth and romance. But one character was a 14 year old prostitute and while 18 now can still pass for a grade schooler. Poe himself earned an unbelievably paltry sum from all his works -- from the world's first detective story; from the tour de force of the Raven and the rest of his poems; from all his short stories, still classics
