The duo soon find that between the autocratic Bishop Leodegar and the malignant abbess, Mother Audofleda, a web of sinister intrigue is spreading throughout the abbey. And murder is only the beginning. The theft of a priceless reliquary box, the disappearance of local women and children, and the concurrent rumors of a slave trade all combine to make this one of the most diabolical puzzles that Fidelma and Eadulf have ever faced.
I never knew they could help with inflammation. Each chapter is divided into numerous sections, which explain the grammar in detail. Perhaps in another genre [mmm, like Horror?], these stories deserve 5 stars [although from a technical point of view, the last story seemed rushed, was boring and had that familiar whiff of "uh oh - I needed to make my deadline like yesterday"], but for Romance/Erotic I'm going to give her 3.
In short, I was freaked out & unhappy. In Damned Rite: Melt, Wood creates an elaborate and rich story that kept me enthralled. Nugent's book reminds us that prayer is not just for priests, religious, and a few devout laymen. I also appreciate how they found a way to make it all work.
Overall, this is a brilliant novel that I fell in love with from the beginning and didn’t want to let go at the end. There are only two full length Tracy biographies written prior to this book; one the fine but too brief and occasionally inaccurate book by Lar
